About Adam

Adam Peterson earned his law degree from Creighton University in 2007 and returned to the same campus to complete an MBA the following year. The combination of law and business degrees shapes how he approaches legal problems. He draws on both sets of training when advising clients on preservation and transition of wealth.

Peterson began his legal career in private practice. In 2009 he worked as an associate at Duval & Moody, P.C., where he handled matters typical for a junior lawyer building a practice. Two years later he started his own firm and has served as owner of Peterson Estate Planning since 2011. Running a small practice has given him regular contact with clients across a range of personal and family issues.

His professional affiliations reflect his practice area. He maintains memberships in WealthCounsel and the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. Locally, he belongs to the Utah Valley Estate Planning Council and the Estate Planning Section of the Utah State Bar. He also serves on the board of the Salt Lake Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. Those ties keep him connected to peers who deal with wills, trusts, and probate matters.

Colleagues and clients see him most often on estate planning work. That includes drafting wills and trusts, advising on probate procedures, and helping clients plan for incapacity. He handles matters for individuals and families. He also works with business owners on succession basics because his MBA informs conversations about tax and business continuity.

Peterson is licensed in Utah and structures his practice to meet the needs of residents in the state. His approach tends toward practical solutions. He favors clear documents over legalese. He aims to reduce uncertainty for clients who are dealing with emotionally charged decisions or complicated family dynamics.

He has written and spoken on estate planning topics to community and professional groups, and he participates in continuing education through his professional organizations. That ongoing engagement shapes how he updates client documents and addresses changes in state or federal law.

He currently practices at Peterson Estate Planning, handling estate planning, trusts, wills and probate matters.
