About Adam Harold

Adam Harold Sudbury built a legal foundation across three institutions over a decade. He earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Connecticut in 2001. He then completed a J.D. at The George Washington University Law School in 2004. Later, he returned to graduate study and received an MBA in Leadership and Management from Rollins College in 2013.

His first notable public-service role came in 2005 when he served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Office of the Public Defender for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. That early courtroom work gave him direct trial experience and regular exposure to the demands of criminal defense practice. Colleagues from that period recall a steady courtroom presence and an emphasis on case preparation.

Soon after, Sudbury moved into private practice. In 2006 he joined Calzada, Hamner & Wilson, PL as a partner. The same year he assumed the role of Managing Partner at Dorough, Calzada, Soto & Sudbury, LLP. In those positions he handled both substantive legal work and the daily tasks of running a practice. He managed case workflows, staffed matters, and participated in firm decision-making.

In 2011 he took on a managerial role at Apellie Legal, becoming Executive Director. That position combined administrative oversight with strategic planning. His MBA education informed his approach to firm operations, budgeting and personnel decisions. The role marks a shift from full-time courtroom practice to a hybrid of management and practice responsibilities.

Sudbury has maintained ties to the local bar throughout his career. He has been a member of the Orange County Bar Association since 2005 and remains active there. He is licensed to practice in Florida and has worked across systems and court levels in the state.

Over the years his professional path has threaded public defense, private partnership and firm administration. Each phase added a different set of skills: trial work and client advocacy first, then case and firm management, and later organizational leadership. He has balanced client work with the institutional needs of law firms.

He currently practices through Apellie Legal, where his responsibilities include overseeing the firm’s operations and managing client matters in Florida.
