About Abe

Abe Cohn trained first as a political science student at the University of Maryland, College Park and later earned his law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He carried the analytical habits formed in undergrad into law school, where classroom debates and clinic work shaped an interest in practical problem solving. Those academic years set the stage for a legal career that spans two state bars.

Cohn began his professional path after law school by entering practice in the northeastern United States. Over time he gained experience in courtroom procedure, client counseling and transactional work, often handling matters that crossed state lines. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in New York, and he holds current membership in the State Bar of New York. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive in client meetings.

His early career included roles that required drafting pleadings, negotiating settlements and advising small businesses and individuals. He spent time in firms where he rotated through litigation and advisory assignments. Those years taught him how to manage heavy dockets and how to prioritize client goals under tight deadlines. He also developed an approach to case management that emphasizes clear communication and incremental progress.

In recent years Cohn consolidated his practice under the banner of Cohn Legal, PLLC. He operates from offices using that firm name and works with a small team to handle intake, research and court filings. The practice handles matters for clients in both states where he is licensed. He balances courtroom appearances and out-of-court negotiations, and he often partners with local counsel when cases extend across jurisdictions.

Outside of active casework he has maintained ties to his law school network and to the broader legal community in New York. He attends bar association events and contributes to discussions on procedural and professional standards. He has not sought public office and does not hold an academic appointment. He continues to accept client matters at Cohn Legal, PLLC, representing individuals and organizations in legal matters across Massachusetts and New York.
