About Aaron David
Aaron David Sontz earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2006. He built his legal foundation in Pennsylvania courts and public defender offices. Early training and courtroom time shaped a practice centered on criminal defense and trial work.
Sontz began his career in public defense in 2007 at the Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office. He handled a range of criminal matters there for over a decade. In 2018 he was named director of the Major Felony Unit, a role that expanded his responsibilities to supervising complex felony cases and mentoring other lawyers.
A year later he moved to Lancaster County where he served as First Assistant in 2019. That post added administrative duties and case oversight across the office. In 2020 his path included work in federal criminal practice, giving him experience on matters in the federal system as well as at the state level.
In 2023 Sontz opened his own firm, Aaron Sontz Legal Services, P.C., and took on the role of owner and managing partner. The transition from public offices to private practice followed a long stretch of courtroom work and leadership roles. He brought to his firm the trial habits and case-management approaches developed over years of public defense.
Colleagues and clients describe him as a lawyer who leans on practical courtroom experience. His record shows time handling felony dockets, supervising major-case teams, and managing office operations. That mix of trial practice and management informs how his office approaches investigations, pretrial strategy, and negotiations.
Sontz is licensed in Pennsylvania and has practiced in both state and federal courts. He maintains professional memberships and participates in the legal community. He continues to handle criminal matters, drawing on his public defender background and federal practice experience to represent clients in Pennsylvania state and federal cases.
He currently leads Aaron Sontz Legal Services, P.C., where he concentrates on criminal defense and related litigation in Pennsylvania courts.
