About A. Antonio
A. Antonio Tomas began his academic path in accounting and taxation before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in Accounting from Florida International University in 1994 and followed that with an M.S. in Taxation from FIU in 1999. He completed his J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 2000 and returned to Miami for an LL.M. in Taxation, awarded in 2004.
Tomas moved into legal practice after law school and spent time as an associate at Weisberg and Kainen, P.L., beginning in 2003. He established his own practice, Tomas Law Office, in 2010. Alongside his legal career he maintained professional credentials in accounting; he is a Certified Public Accountant and has pursued board certification in both criminal trial law and tax law.
He holds admissions in multiple jurisdictions and courts, including the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Supreme Court, the 11th Circuit, and state bars in Florida, Virginia, Missouri, Texas and Georgia. Those admissions allow him to appear in federal and state matters across several regions, and to bring tax controversies before specialized tribunals.
Tomas has earned board certifications from recognized bodies: the National Board of Trial Advocacy lists him as board certified in criminal trial law, and the Florida Bar has granted board certification in criminal trial law and in tax law. His credentials also include membership in the Florida Association of Certified Public Accountants, reflecting his background in accountancy alongside his courtroom qualifications.
He has been a member of several professional organizations that connect litigators, tax professionals and local bar groups. His memberships date back to the early 2000s and include the American Bar Association and the Cuban-American Bar Association from 2003, the Dade County Bar Association from 2003, the Florida Association of Certified Public Accountants from 2002, and local groups such as the Coral Gables Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2010.
Tomas runs Tomas Law Office and continues to practice in areas that draw on both his tax training and trial credentials. His current work centers on criminal trial matters and tax law.
